Welcome to Z's Café, the
newest eatery in the heart of Fort Worth's Cultural District. We
offer home-cooked, unpretentious, affordable food at our café,
as well as delivery and catering. But there's more to this café
than just great food...
Z's Café is family owned
and operated by Janet Z. Capua (chef) and Carlo Capua (general
manager) and is a partnership with Samaritan House, a local
non-profit that reaches out to people who have been affected by
HIV/AIDS. To date, 17 residents of Samaritan House have found
employment at Z's Café, learning
business skills and gaining valuable work experience at the
grassroots level.
The motto of "Food,
Family, Friends" is the heart of our philosophy. Our employees
are indeed like family, and we've found that by giving them an
opportunity to succeed, they will often transcend the boundaries
and limitations of themselves set by society.
In other words, they will shine even brighter than we'd hoped.
We hope you will support
this joint venture and stop by for our chicken salad, which is
rapidly becoming known as "best in Texas." Though the
chicken salad is well known, Z's Café
also boasts outstanding apricot turkey wraps, Friday salmon
specials, and a deli case full of whatever Chef Janet Z has
prepared fresh that morning.
Chef Janet Z has been
cooking for family and friends for 50 years, specializing in
simple-yet-delicious Italian. Having attended cooking schools in
Tuscany, Napa, and South Beach, Janet Z is a master at making
simple dishes look and taste first class.
Her son Carlo is a
graduate of the business school at Texas Christian University
and is an entrepreneur at heart. His extensive experience
teaching and traveling the world has brought him back to
Fort Worth, where he is very involved in the community.
Z's Café
resides at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, which features
rotating art from local artists free to the public. The FWCAC is
also home to the Fort Worth Opera, Kids Who Care, Scott Theatre,
and the Sanders Theatre.
